SMASH BURGERS

Prep: 10 minutes | Cook: 10 minutes | Total: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 400 g beef mince

  • 4 Brioche Buns

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 100 g cheddar cheese sliced

  • 100 g sliced gherkins

  • 3 tbsp BBQ sauce

METHOD:

Step 1

Preheat the bbq flat plate to a high heat. Alternatively, if you're using a stove top, you can use a cast iron pan.

Step 2

Meanwhile, divide the mince into 4 even meatballs. Don’t roll them too tightly as the burgers will smash out better if the mince is packed loser.

Step 3

Cut the buns in half and lightly brush the inside of both with mayonnaise. Add the buns to the hot bbq or pan, and toast until nice and golden.

Step 4

Remove the buns and add the meatballs. Depending on your size of pan you may need to do this one at a time.

Step 5

Using a large spatula or burger smasher, push down hard over the meat ball with a twist motion. The burgers should be as thin as a pencil. Season the patty's with salt and pepper.

Step 6

After a couple of minutes, ease the burger off the flat plate or pan and flip. Top with a slice of cheese and cook for a further two minutes.

Step 7

While the burgers are finishing off, add a good squirt of mayonnaise to the bottom bun, and the bbq sauce to the top lid. Once finished cooking, remove the patty’s and slide onto the bottom bun. Top with the pickles and the top lid, then stand back an admire.

Step 8

Best served with hot salty fries.
